High-profile directors get turned away

Los Angeles Times reported that Universal Pictures rejected acclaimed directors Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's requests to finance their new film, Tintin. The Belgian comic book-based movie has a whopping price tag of $130 million, an amount even topnotch studios are quite wary to shell out in an unstable economy. This rejection was a news maker particularly because high-profile directors do not usually get turned down under normal economic circumstances. This only highlights how the country's financial crisis has spilled beyond businesses in Wall Street. Universal Pictures executives are still studying whether Tintin would be profitable in the current market, especially because Jackson and Spielberg are demanding a relatively huge cut of the film revenues "without putting up any of the capital themselves. (Elier 2008)" In addition, Tintin is quite unknown to most Americans, despite its acclamation in Belgium. Tintin is a longtime pet project of Spielberg and he intends to make it into a trilogy series, which he will direct along with Peter Jackson. He has been working on the film with Paramount for a number of years now, but all the progress could go to waste without Universal Pictures helping Paramount to pick up the tab for production. If the studio changes its mind, however, Spielberg said that he is ready to shoot as early as next month.

Kanye Under Arrested???

Could this possibly be? Kanye West was attacked by paparazzi and basically defended himself by resisting. Now, he's arrested for that? I don't think he looks like a bad guy at all. I'm not famous but I sure wouldn't know how to handle a situation where people are attacking you for pictures like that. You never know if Kanye just got tired of it, or it was just early in the morning. Supposedly Kanye didn't want to take a picture for Erik (the paparazzi) and it got on tape. After Kanye found out that he got caught on tape with that, he lunged toward him and said, "Give me the fucking videotape." I really don't think Kanye is a bad person, he's still a dope rapper in my eyes! haha

“Mr. West was arrested at 7:51 a.m. outside the passenger screening area by airport police on charges of vandalism. Initial reports say this incident involved a paparazzo and a camera valued at more than $10,000. In addition, Mr. West’s road manager was arrested for vandalism and battery. Several witnesses are being interviewed by police. West and his manager are being transported to an LAPD station where they’re expected to be booked.”

Haiti gets stars to help

Haiti recently got an anticipated reunion with one of its premier national celebrity figures when popular singer and Haiti native Wyclef Jean came to the aid of recent victims of hurricane. He also brought additional star power with him as Matt Damon helped with the charitable effort. Jean and Damon arrived in the town of Cabaret, whose residents gave an enthusiastic welcome, especially to Jean. Cabaret had been particularly hard hit by the hurricanes, claiming 60 of its residents and destroying the homes of countless others. Damon and Jean were out to give out food supplies "to an estimated 600 people sheltered in a school." The task was met with some rough circumstances though as "a truck carrying food for 300 people got stuck in the mud." Matt Damon and Wyclef Jean are both appealing for more charitable support from ordinary citizens and the United Nations.

Wyclef Jean has expressed his love for Haiti and wishes to direct more attention the plight of his impoverished homeland.

Keira Knightley: Too Skinny?

Keira Knightley is probably best known for her work in the Pirates of the Caribbean legacy as Elizabeth Swan, the Governor's daughter. Or you might know her best from her role in Domino. Or maybe from her excellent performance in Atonement. But there are people out there that question her figure. Is she too skinny? Or does she just have really good metabolism? Sunday night, Keira Knightley was spotted at the Canadian premiere of her film The Duchess during the Toronto Film Festival. If you recall, last September Knightley was quoted as saying, "Weight is a big issue in Hollywood because I'm twice the size, height and everything else, of most of the girls who are going in to see the director for a part. When you realize that I am, at my size, one of the largest actresses there, you start to think, 'I don't think it'd be healthy for me to stay here much longer.'" She was delusional back then! That's when she should have gotten help! And then just a few weeks later she said, “I absolutely hate red carpet events. I don’t like the fact that people write ‘Oh you look like crap’ [afterwards] or 'I don't like your arms'. I’m not Wonder Woman! I have self-esteem issues. Everybody does. You know, skinny people are allowed to feel shit about themselves [too].” But now it seems that the actress is tinier than ever. And, in what's usually an obvious sign, it seems that with all the weight she's lost, she's also lost her boobs. The 23 year old has been traveling to promote her new movie, but we feel she needs to stop and get some proper care.

Spidey could be swingin in the neighborhood again

An LA Times article reported that two more installations to the highly acclaimed Spider man film series could soon come to fruition. Director Sam Raimi will still hold his reins as the movies' director and Tobey Maguire will remain as the star of the cast. Kirsten Dunst's reappearance, however, has yet to be confirmed. But who thinks she shouldn't come back as Peter Parker's better half? She definitely should. The Maguire-Dunst chemistry has been pretty stellar in previous Spidey movies. So if it ain't broke, don't fix it. With regards to the villain, there are a few names that have been floating around including Vulture, Electro, Lizard, and Man Wolf. Venom is also rumored to have a comeback after being blown up in the third sequel. That, however, according to the LA Times column would be quite unlikely. But whoever is next in line to terrorize the Big Apple (although I have a bias for Lizard for whatever reason), it certainly is nice to know that one of America's favorite next door superheroes will once more come to the silver screen.

Postpartum Depression?

Could Angelina Jolie be suffering from postpartum depression? It is shown on a reliable website source that Jolie has been suffering with severe mood swings. Especially when she just gave birth to her twins. Her twins were diagnosed with colic. Colic is a common condition where babies cry excessively no apparent reason whatsoever.

A source tells In Touch Weekly magazine, "Angelina slips into depression mode all the time. She has been trying to control her emotions around her older children but her mood swings have been hard on the entire family.
"She has been staying in bed most of the time, all she does is sleep. She has little energy and has to force herself to remember to eat because she is still breast feeding. She cries at the drop of a hat and laughs at inappropriate times."
Since giving birth, Angelina, 33, has stayed in the family's Chateau Miraval in Provence, France, and is reportedly angry at partner Brad Pitt for attending Italy's Venice International Film Festival to promote his new movie Burn After Reading.
The source added, "Angelina feels that Brad has it easy. He had the kids without the pain of birth, and he can just jet off whenever he feels like it."

This was the inside scoop and was all around bloggers and forums for a short while. Was Reginae Carter killed in a car accident or not? As we all know, Lil Wayne (formally known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) has been growing rapidly with new fans and a new life. Does a new life mean distraught for his family? Rumors spreading so quickly about his daughter being killed in a car accident. But a recent website investigated thoroughly and confirmed, Reginae Carter is NOT dead. She is no where even near dead and she never got into a car accident. According to the rapper's record label, Reginae is alive and well. There was a comment made by an Aunt of Reginae stating, "I am pleased to inform you that this report is false. It is merely a rumor started by someone who obviously is miserable in their own skin that they would even have the notion to attack a child. Rest assured Reginae is tucked away in her bed at this very moment trying to get past the hurt this ugliness has caused her and our family." Has Lil Wayne's fame taken a toll to his family? Nothing can phase this family's bond down. This issue was a serious act that somebody pulled off as a hoax.
