Plane crash injures DJ AM and Travis Barker, kills six others

South Carolina got a taste of some stars in their state, but in the most unfortunate of ways. Former Blink 182 drummer and DJ AM were both injured in a plane crash that killed six others with them, including pilots Sarah Lemmon and James Bland, and Barker's friends Chris Baker and Charles Still. The flight was on its way back to Van Nuys airport in California before it crashed just moments after it took off from the South Carolina Airport. Air traffic controllers who were observing the plane said that they saw "sparks" as it took off before finally going off track and slamming into a grassy area beside the airport runway. The owner of the plane, Global Exec Aviation, has said that it is already planning to dispatch a group to South Carolina to coordinate the with National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. One of the pilots of the plane who were killed, James Bland, has worked for Laguna Beach and Santa Ana, Calif. police forces and had a stint as a helicopter operator for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
