Ice Cube's sensitizing new music vid

Ice Cube recently released a video of his song "Why Me?", which featured the family of a 17 year old teen who was murdered near his home. The boy,Jamiel Shaw Jr., was said to be a football player in high school who was on his way to college with a scholarship. Shaw's promising future seems to be the salt to the injury. An illegal immigrant gang member named Pedro Espinoza is said to be the suspect in Shaw's death, although he has pleaded not guilty. Reports said that Espinoza had killed Shaw after "asking him about his gang affiliation." AP reported that Shaw did not belong to any gangs.

Ice Cube decided to put Shaw's real family instead of "a bunch of actors" to get his point across. He said that he finds gun violence murders very "tragic" and "ugly". But while Shaw's family is pushing for the passage of "Jamiel's Law", which would crack down on illegal immigrants in gangs, the rapper said that his music video was not endorising such measure.

"You've got a person being killed by a person he don't know for a reason he don't know ... Who cares if it was an immigrant or if it was a taxpaying citizen?" Ice Cube said in an AP article.
